Johnny is no stranger to Maul Road. He served as Youth and Family Minister at Maul Road from 1991-97. A lot changed in the twelve years he was away from Maul Road. When he returned to Camden in 2008, he was married and a father of three. Johnny’s wife, Angie, has played a huge role in developing our Children’s Ministry. We now offer a new curriculum for our children’s classes and have begun a Sunday night children’s worship – Adventure Club.
Each Sunday, you will find their children – Joey, Andy, and Abby – lighting up the church building. Their non-stop energy is a joy to our church family. Johnny and Angie are very active parents. On any given day, you may find Angie at the local elementary school, where she serves as PTO President. Johnny is active in the Boys and Girls’ Club – where he coaches baseball and soccer.
Johnny has served in full-time ministry for more than twenty years. Most of that time was spent as a Youth and Family Minister. He has spoken to youth ministers across the country, at Christian Colleges and regional seminars. Johnny continues to have a passion for youth and families and is currently writing his first book on equipping teens and parents for ministry.
Throughout his ministry, Johnny has focused much of his studies on leadership development. In Alabama, he founded Teen Leadership University and was a founding board member for Southeastern Leadership Training for Christ. Both programs have served as great opportunities to train children and teens to be leaders in the church.
In the community, Johnny is actively involved in Leadership Camden Area. His is a graduate of the 1996 class and currently serves on the board of directors for LCA. The program is co-sponsored by the Camden Area Chamber of Commerce and Southern Arkansas University Tech.
